πŸ“ Rounders πŸ“

We played rounders during PE this week. We each took turns batting and bowling. It was great fun we even had some home runs!

πŸƒπŸΌ Dynamics of running πŸƒπŸ»‍♀️
This week we have been looking at how we run. What do we do with our arms and legs and how does this affect the speed we run at? Mrs Cassidy helped us break down the movements into small sections and we focused on how we move each body part. After we did some races to see if we could get faster each time with improved form.

Here’s what we thought πŸ’

πŸ‘©πŸΌ ”I am faster when I run straight to the end.” - Maisie

πŸ‘©πŸ» “I took my time to focus on my feet and legs lifting them up to get a longer stride.” -Eabha

🏐 Games with LSC4 🏐

This week we were joined by our friends in LSC4 for PE. We played running games where we had to listen for the coloured cone and run as fast as possible to that cone. We also played ball games where we had to bounce the ball and pass it to a friend at different coloured cones.

Here is what we thought:

πŸ‘±πŸ»‍♂️ “It was hard to remember all the colours but I did it! I hit them quickly too.” -Kieran

πŸ‘©πŸ» “You have to listen closely to hear the correct colours to hit. I had to concentrate to know where I was going, “ -Katie

πŸ‘« Teamwork Games πŸ‘«

This week we worked on teamwork games to help us work better as a group. We had the pass the ball behind our head to move forward, pass a hula hoop around the circle without breaking out arms and play a pass the ball game.

🧎🏻Yoga: Harry Potter Theme🧎🏼‍♀️
We had a go at some yoga today. To help us relax after our busy half term holidays we had a yoga session based on a very popular book in our class: Harry Potter!

πŸ’ƒπŸΌ Traditional Dance: Haka and African Dancing πŸ•ΊπŸ»
The weather hasn’t been on our side recently, so we’re inside again. This week we look at two traditional dances from around the world. The first one we looked at was the Haka, we watched the New Zealand rugby team perform one and then tried to copy a simple version for kids! Check out our videos. After, we looked at African dancing, we followed a lady who taught us to imagine a clock face on the floor and we moved our feet to touch each of the numbers. It was super fast, we worked up a sweat!

πŸƒπŸ»‍♀️ Games: Listening skills and teamwork πŸƒπŸΌ‍♂️
This week during games we worked on listening to instructions while moving and working as a team. We played cups and saucers and then added in different rules we had to do before we flipped the cone (e.g. lunges). After we worked in a circle completing exercises and then had to run and find the cone colour that was called out.

πŸ•ΊπŸ» Dance: Zumba πŸ’ƒπŸΌ
Back by popular demand from last week we had some Zumba! We had so much fun last week we really wanted to do it again. This week we tried our new moves and more difficult dance moves. We’re expecting a call from the Strictly bosses sometime soon….

πŸ’ƒ Dance: Zumba πŸ•ΊπŸ»
Thursday morning was very wet and windy so we had to get creative with our PE. We decided to do a Zumba class following the instructor on the whiteboard. Of course we had some help from our favourite Zumba instructor Mrs Dean! It’s safe to say we have much better moves than Mrs Cassidy and her two left feet!

β›ΉπŸ½‍♀️ Games: Bouncing on the move β›ΉπŸ»‍♂️
We competed against each other to complete an obstacle course where we had to bounce a ball on the move. After we played our favourite game (of our own invention) hoop ball! Hoop ball incorporates rules from netball and basket ball, we love it!

🚴🏻‍♀️ Bike to School: Heart Rate Activity 🚴🏻
This week is Bike to School week. We did an activity on heart rate and how it increases and decreases during exercise. We measured our heart rate before we started, during our warm up, after our main exercise (running) and after our cool down to analyse how our heart rate changed.

πŸ’ƒ Dance: Synchronised Movements πŸ•ΊπŸ»
We worked with partners and in small groups to try and copy each other’s movements and move at the same time. Then we attempted to move as a whole class completing head, shoulders, knees and toes all at the same time but without singing any of the words.

🏐 Ball skills: Catching and Throwing🏐

We have been working on accuracy when passing the ball to a teammate. We have been trying to catch and throw the ball to a partner while on the move without stopping. We’re getting really good at it!

πŸ’ƒ Dance: Movement and Spacial Awareness πŸ•ΊπŸ»
This week we looked at dancing and how dancers have a good knowledge of how their bodies move and the space they have around them. We moved around in different ways using different body parts and changed our speed and direction without bumping in to anyone else.

πŸƒπŸ»‍♀️ Games: Speed and Agility πŸƒπŸ»
We worked on our speed and agility skills in PE this week. We did some sprint work and practised running with speed changes. We also worked on our memory and agility skills as we had to remember a sequence of coloured cones and tap them as quickly as possible before sprinting to the finish cone.

πŸ’« Hurling Lesson 1 πŸ’«

This week we had a go at hurling. We learned about the importance of staying safe while playing by always wearing a helmet and making sure we have space before we swing our stick or strike the ball. Mrs Cassidy showed us how to strike and dribble the ball and then we played some games. We had so much fun.
