✨ Area Bingo ✨

We have been playing bingo with area number cards! We had to think really quickly and do the mental maths as fast as possible so we could call the number faster than our partner. 

πŸ“ Measuring Area πŸ“

We rolled dice to give us the length and width of our shapes. We used rulers to measure out these shapes in  cm and we drew these on our pages. After we had created the shape we calculated the area by multiplying the measurements.

πŸ‘©πŸΌ ”we did all the bottom ones, and the girls did the top. Doesn’t it look like Tetris with all our shapes? We have 4 shapes with a bigger area that theirs, our sides were longer than those, that’s why there’s more area.” -Lara Marie.

⭐️ Multiplying with IZZAK 9 ⭐️
We used IZAK 9 cubes to write multiplication sums. Working with a partner we chose two cubes and wrote them on our whiteboards before multiplying them together.

πŸŽ…πŸΌ Delivering Presents with Sphero 🀢🏼
We delivered presents to the correct numbered house by answering multiplication sums. We had to use the grid method to find the answer to the question, select the correct numbered Santa sack and then drive the Sphero to the right house. 

πŸ“ Converting Measurement πŸ“

We measured different items in our tables to find which category they fit into. On our desks we had stars that said things like “bigger than 10cm”. Once we found items we then converted the cm measurements into mm. at the very end we collated our results and choose 3 items each to show everyone what we found. 

πŸͺ… Multiplication Bingo πŸͺ…

We worked in groups with Miss Murray to play a bingo game to test our times tables up to 12. 

πŸš‚ Magnificent Multiplying πŸš‚

We worked in pairs to play a push the button game on the iPad. We had to work together to answer the multiplication questions as quickly as possible as the train passed through.  

πŸπŸƒ Symmetry in Nature πŸƒπŸ

This week we went outside to look for symmetry in leaves. We chose different shaped leaves from around our school and traced around them on squared paper. Afterwards we went inside to carefully rule lines of symmetry on the paper and counted the squares to see if they were symmetrical or not. 

🎲 Maths Week 2021: Online Quiz 🎲

To celebrate Maths Week we competed in an online quiz. We worked really hard together to solve the very tricky questions! 

πŸ– Problem Solving: Painting Patterns πŸ–

We worked on completing a set pattern this week. We used paint and paint crayons to copy a set pattern and continue it on three times. After, we challenged our friends to complete a pattern we made up. 

πŸ“ˆ Topic: Line Graph πŸ“‰

We made a line graph to show the results of our textiles experiment. You can see the photos of us in action over on the World Around Us page. We used the website Canva to make a shared line graph showing all the data and results from our experiment. Can you figure out which textile was the best/worst insulator?


πŸ“Š Topic: Bar Charts πŸ“Š

We have been looking at bar charts this week in Numeracy. We created a bar chart showing the amount of different coloured magnetic letters in our box and how many chocolate bars were sold in a week from a shop in Belfast. 

🎲 Place Value Dice 🎲

We rolled dice and used cubes to create numbers in hundreds, tens and units.

We used magnetic numbers to create numbers in the thousands then with unifix cubes we created columns to show the thousands, hundreds, tens and units in each number.

⚾️ Place Value Buckets ⚾️

We threw balls into buckets to make numbers in the hundreds. In teams we competed to see who could make the biggest number.

We made numbers using thousands, hundreds, tens and units cones. Mrs Cassidy called a number and we had to organise ourselves behind the correct cone to make that number. At the end we made a big number using everyone in our class… can you figure out what it was?
