We used cubes, Numicon and the IZAK 9 cubes to investigate all the ways of making 10. We worked independently, as part of a pair and a group and used our problem solving skills to identify which number bonds were missing from our list. We worked very hard and found them all. Well done everybody!
We have been using non-standard units to measure length. We counted the cubes that were equal in length to each worm. We talked about the longest and shortest worms and then we decided to put them in order. Some boys and girls even sorted them by colour too!
We have been learning about making numbers using tens and units. We have used the counting in tens pattern to help us, along with other mental maths strategies such as; starting to count at numbers other than zero. We loved matching the jigsaw pieces, playing the paired games and choosing the correct numbers on the iPads.
We used the IZAK9 cubes to make a class number line. We had to work together to put ourselves in the right order and solve the problem when there was 2 of the same number.
We have been learning about odd and even numbers. We learned the rhyme;
0, 2, 4, 6, 8 all like to sit on the even gate
1, 3, 5, 7, 9 all like to stand in an odd line.
We each designed a house and then sorted ourselves into Odd Street and Even Street.
