Lighthouse keeper’s Lunch: This week the children created their own lunches for the main character in their story of the week, Mr Grinling!

Experimenting with freezing: This week the children explored Freezing in their Topic of Summer Holidays. The made ice lollies because we need these on a warm summer day. We then delved further into this and discussed materials that freeze and those that don’t . The children made predictions and then analysed their results to identify which materials freeze!

STEAM based learning: This week the children explored the story of the Light House Keeper’s Lunch. The children used a range of materials to build their own lighthouses, they used electricity to create the lights. 🌊

Fun at the beach: The children had a visit to the beach as part of their new topic: Summer Holidays. They had fun exploring the different features of the Ballyhornan beach. 🌊

Practical learning taking place: The children were exploring time outdoors where they were making the clocks read the correct time. The children were also asked to make different forms of transport using a range of materials!

Easter fun day: The children had a super visit from the farm today, enjoyed a teddy bears picnic and even got a run in the tractor!

Egyptian projects and show and tell: LSC2 worked very hard on these projects at home. They put in such effort and creativity!

Exploring the Mummification Process: The children followed the mummification process to see if a fruit can be preserved.

Thursday trips: This week we visited Crossgar Monastery and the children explored the surrounding woodlands!

This week the children had an amazing trip to Armagh Planetarium. This concluding their learning on the topic of Space. The children took a journey through outer space in the Dome followed by a trip to the various planets with a family of friendly aliens. They had the opportunity to build some rockets and made them fly outdoors using hydraulic pumps. It is safe to say that every child enjoyed the experience! 

Solar System: The children created Planets in art this week. We then arranged our planets to create the Solar System. 🪐

Fair trade: The children explored Fair-trade in class and went to the local shop to hunt for products that were Fair trade!

Exploring Money in LSC2: This week the children were introduced to money as their new topic in numeracy. They explored counting coins, making amounts and buying ingredients! 🪙💰

Numeracy week: This week the children participated in many engaging and practical numeracy activities to celebrate Maths week in LSC2 🔢

National story telling Week in LSC2. The children participated in various story telling telling activities this week including reading for pleasure and creating a story using pictures 📚

Celebrating 100 days of school 2022

Understanding the importance of being safe online on Safer Internet Day 2022.

The children have been very busy on their first week back after the Christmas holidays. The children have been celebrating the new year by making special hats and colourful fireworks. They loved making fireworks in a jar- what an exciting experiment. This half term the children will be focusing on word building and addition. Let’s see where our learning takes us this half term! 👏
