✨ Magnetic Words ✨
We made words using magnetic letters, we had some picture word cards to help us.
Building Words 🔨
We made CVC words using coloured letters. Using the sounds and word families we have looked at so far this year we build different words on colourful paper.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears 🐻
We acted out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have been learning to recount a story. Mrs Cassidy was very impressed with our acting skills, we told the whole story from start to finish all by ourselves. 😃
Building words 📝
This week we have been building words with cubes.
We looked at words that all had the same sound in the middle!
Listening Walk 👂🏻
We went on a walk to see what environmental sounds we could hear in the playground. We each had a whiteboard and throughout the walk we drew pictures or wrote words to describe what we could hear. We then worked with a partner to see if we heard similar things.
Jam Sandwiches 🥪
We can make sandwiches! We have been working on following instructions and writing recipes. We talked about how we could make our sandwiches, Mrs Cassidy set out everything we needed and we made our sandwiches independently.
Supermarket Sweep 🛒
We played a memory game today. Each of us got a shopping list and a trolley, then turned over the cards to see if it matched an item on your list you put it into your trolley.
✏️ Fantastic Phonics
Mrs Cassidy asked us to write letters and words using our phonics skills and write them on our whiteboards. She was so impressed with how well we can segment and blends sounds to create three letter CVC words.
Rhyming Pumpkins 🎃
We matched rhyming pumpkins together by words and pictures.
🌽 Oliver's Vegetables 🥦
We read the story of Oliver's vegetables. He was lucky enough to visit his Grandad's farm and get fresh vegetables to eat. In class we discussed how to make vegetable soup, we sequenced pictures and wrote a set of instructions together so we could tell everyone at home how to make tasty vegetable soup!
We read a story about a hungry Tiger who went to tea. He called into Sophie's house and ate all her food! We decided it would be a good idea to open a shop to help Sophie buy all the food the Tiger ate! We also took turns acting out the story using face masks. We had a lot of fun!
The Magic Porridge Pot! 🥣
We read the story of The Magic Porridge Pot together using our Interactive Whiteboard. It was a great story about a girl and her magic cooking pot, her mum had a bit of trouble with the magic words and the porridge went everywhere!! We won't spoil the ending for you though so you'll have to read it to find out!
Here are some pictures of our work. We used play dough to recreate different elements of the story. Mrs Cassidy was very impressed with our hard work.
