✨ Finding Initial Sounds ✨

πŸŒŸπŸŽ„Sequencing using first, next, then and lastπŸŽ„πŸŒŸ

We worked together to put up our Christmas tree in our classroom and discussed what we were doing throughout.  After we had finished, we sequenced pictures together on the mat to orally sequence what we did first, next, then and last.  As a follow up activity we sequenced the pictures independently and traced the key words we have been using in our writing.

πŸ‘‘πŸ₯šHumpty Dumpty πŸ₯š πŸ‘‘

In response to the nursery rhyme, we made a wall for Humpty Dumpty using a variety of construction materials.  Miss Vaughan then called out some instructions using positional language and we had to change the position of Humpty Dumpty.

✨Jack and the Beanstalk ✨

We read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and discussed the characters within the story.  After we had read the story, we worked together to sort the characters by hanging them on a line using pegs if they were in the story.  This was also great fine motor skills practice!

βœ‚οΈ πŸ’‡‍♂️ The Haircut πŸ’‡‍β™‚οΈβœ‚οΈ

Miss Vaughan read a story about Kipper going to the hairdressers for a haircut.  We stopped at points throughout the story to carry out the different actions associated with getting your haircut and used these actions in our role play area.  To develop our fine motor and scissor skills we used scissors to cut the hair of cardboard characters we had created.

✏️ Writing our Name ✏️

We have new individual name cards and we were very excited to see what our new icons were.  Each icon has the same first sound as our name and we enjoyed figuring this out.  We used our name cards to try and write our names for the first time and Miss Vaughan was very impressed with our determination.
